Spinach

Spinach is an incredibly versatile product as it can be eaten raw or cooked. With its dark green leaves, mild sweet taste and distinctive texture it makes for a delicious salad as well as a tasty cooked vegetable.

Spinach came to Europe from Persia in the ninth century, becoming very popular in England in the eleventh century.

Its deep green leaves make it very colourful - back in medieval times it was used as a paint by artists and is still used now as a green body paint! The leaves are more importantly a great provider of health benefits. these include it being a good source of fibre to help the digestive system, as well as containing many minerals such as manganese, potassium, copper and phosphorous for general heart health and additionally aiding healthy eyes with its high content of a cartenoid called Lutein.

Our spinach is supplied as both a "wash before use" and "washed ready to eat" product in various bag options.
